MICHAEL A. MARTIN, SR., SENIOR PASTOR

Pastor Michael A. Martin is the current Senior Pastor of St. Matthew Missionary Baptist Church, Inc., located in Oxford, North Carolina. He is a born-again believer and is committed to both preaching and teaching the Word of God. His teaching style brings clarity and understanding, igniting a deeper hunger for God’s Word in those who hear him.

 

Pastor Martin considers his primary calling to be that of a helper. He finds great joy in serving across all areas of the ministry and is passionate about the youth.  His heart’s desire is to faithfully fulfill his calling by winning souls for Jesus Christ.

Pastor Martin is married to Mrs. Cynthia Epps Martin. Together, they are blessed with four children, fifteen grandchildren, and one great-grandson.

 

Pastor Martin has over 20 years of pastoral experience. He began his pastoral journey at Zion Hill Baptist Church in Farmville, Virginia, where he served faithfully for 7 years. He was then called to pastor Oakey Grove Baptist Church in Clayton, North Carolina, for 12 years. For the past 22 months, he has been leading and serving at St. Matthew Missionary Baptist Church, Inc.

 

He was licensed to preach on October 20, 2002, at Salem Baptist Church in Red Oak, Virginia, and ordained on October 17, 2004, at the same church through The Bluestone Harmony Missionary Baptist Association.

 

Pastor Martin also serves beyond the pulpit in various ministry and leadership roles:

  • Assistant Chaplain at Smithfield Johnston Hospital (Smithfield, NC)

  • Lifetime Member of the Baptist General Convention of Virginia

  • Board of Trustees Member, Johnston District Missionary Baptist Association

  • Member of the County Line Missionary Baptist Association

  • Member of the East Cedar Grove Missionary Baptist Association

  • Member of the Person County Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance (PCIMA)

  • Minister in Fellowship at Lawson Chapel Baptist Church in Roxboro, North Carolina (Rev. Dr. Langston Logan, Pastor).

 

He is well-educated in Theology and Divinity, having studied at:

  • Liberty University – Lynchburg, VA

  • Virginia Union University – Richmond, VA

  • Shaw Divinity School – Raleigh, NC

  • Apex School of Theology – Durham, NC

  • Saint Augustine’s University – Raleigh, NC

  • ​

He is currently in pursuit of his Bachelor’s Degree in Theology.
